What Is Consultation and Training?

Consultation and training are supportive, hands-on processes that teach you to apply key strategies in daily life. Led by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) or a supervising clinician, consultation offers personalized advice, while training provides active skill-building and guided practice.

These services are tailored to meet your specific needs, whether that means helping your child share toys with friends or providing you with tools to make errands smoother for everyone.

Whether you're managing meltdowns, encouraging new routines, or simply seeking more confidence at home, we offer guidance every step of the way. Training can be one-on-one, part of a group, or delivered as a workshop — always with clear explanations, live modelling, helpful feedback, and real-world tools you can use right away.

How It Works

Consultation and training aren’t one-time lessons — they’re a flexible and ongoing part of support. As goals evolve, we’re with you at every step.

Here’s what you can expect:
  • Initial Consultation – We listen to your concerns and get to know your goals.
  • Personalized Plan – Tailored to your specific needs and routines.
  • Live Support – Coaching sessions take place at home, in-centre, or separately.
  • Take-Home Tools – We provide visuals, checklists, and strategy guides to support your learning.
  • Progress Reviews – Regular check-ins keep you informed and involved.
We meet you where you are — whether you're brand new to support services or building on what you’ve already learned.

Topics We Can Cover

Below are some of the key focus areas we help caregivers and community partners develop skills in:

  • Positive reinforcement strategies
  • The ABCs of behaviour (Antecedent, Behaviour, Consequence)
  • Reducing tantrums and outbursts
  • Building routines and transitions
  • Teaching independence and life skills
  • Supporting social skills at home and in the community
  • Generalizing goals across different settings
  • Inclusive practices for camps, schools, and group programs

Why Consultation and Training Works

Research shows that when caregivers and communities are actively involved in support programs, children are more likely to generalize their skills and maintain progress.

Consultation and training aren't just about today; they're about building the skills and confidence that will support individuals for years to come. Progress is methodically tracked through regular assessments and observations. We conduct regular reviews to assess the effectiveness of current strategies, ensuring they remain aligned with the individual's needs. As necessary, plans are adjusted to provide ongoing, responsive support that meets the evolving needs of each family, ensuring continuous progress.
